Most women have been planning their wedding since they were a little girl. What the flowers will look like, how their bridesmaids will dress, the cake design, and of course, their wedding dress. If you’ve ever seen an episode of “Say Yes To The Dress”, then you know many brides opt to wear a color for their special day. But what if you dream of wearing a black wedding dress?
White Is Not For Everyone
Let’s be honest, these days white is probably not the appropriate color for most blushing brides. Perhaps an ivory or champagne would be more fitting. There are very few brides left who are qualified to be wearing a white wedding dress. A shade of an off white is more flattering and more becoming. Plus, you won’t have to overly bleach your teeth to match your dress for all of the pictures you have to pose for. But what if your tastes are a bit darker all together?
Do You Dare To Wear Black?
Are you daring enough to wear a black wedding gown? It takes a special lady to pull off this look, and she has to have killer confidence. Personally, I detest the idea of a white wedding dress and would wear a stunning black number. With unions becoming more nontraditional, it’s expected there will be a rise in black wedding dresses. The LBD will become the BWD. I for one welcome this change in tradition.
If you are going to commit to wearing black on your big day, then there are a few things you should know. Put an asterisk on your wedding invitations asking guests not to wear black. If guests don’t wear white when the bride is wearing a white dress, then why should they get to wear black on your big day?
People are going to talk, and let them! Your friends and family will no doubt be shocked by your fashion choice, but this day is about you and your partner not them. As long as you feel beautiful and happy in your dress, that is all that matters!
You fully have to commit to your look, so if you are on the fence and not sure if you can pull it off, then this may not be the look for you. Confidence is sexy and people can read that. So fully commit to your BWD and own the look!
