When someone in a relationship cheats, they typically get defensive, beg for forgiveness, or play the “sorry” card. These are all things cheaters say and do when they get caught in the act. Even though it’s entirely their fault, they still try to make YOU feel bad for THEIR actions… which isn’t okay!
Here are 7 typical things cheaters say to their partner:
1. “It was a mistake.”
No, it wasn’t! You don’t just accidentally hook up with somebody. It takes two to tango.
2. “It didn’t mean anything.”
It doesn’t matter if it was meaningful or not! Your partner still got intimate with somebody else. That’s the problem.
3. “It will never happen again.”
… Yes, it will!
If it happened once, chances are it will happen again (especially if you make them think it’s okay by forgiving them)! Once a cheater, always a cheater.
4. “I had a weak moment.”
Weak or not, they still cheated. What makes you think they won’t have another “weak moment” in the future?
5. “Let me make it up to you.”
No, thanks! Not worth the time or energy.
6. “But I love you.”
Don’t fall for this! You don’t hurt the people you love. You especially don’t do things that you know will make your significant other upset or break their heart.
7. “Please forgive me.”
There is no forgiving a cheater… once they learn they can be forgiven for their mistakes, they’ll be sure to do it again and again until it’s finally over.
What should you say back to all of these sad excuses?
There’s no use in staying with somebody who hurts you, lies, or is unfaithful. Move on and find somebody who will treat you the way you deserve to be treated.
Has your partner used any of these classic cheater lines on you before? It’s time to find someone new who won’t cheat on you!
