If you’re a college student looking to celebrate the end of the semester, or if you live where the cold weather hurts your face, treat yourself to a well-deserved getaway!
Here are five vacation ideas to consider this winter break:
1. Take a road trip.
If you like exploring and can avoid getting carsick, grab your friends, pack your bags, and take a road trip! All you need to do is pick an address, punch it into your GPS, and enjoy the ride.
2. Get active and go snowboarding/skiing.
If you’re on the East Coast, head to upstate New York or Vermont. If you’re on the West Coast or somewhere in the middle, go to Colorado or Utah. There are resorts all across the U.S., so if you enjoy the snow and feel like being athletic, go hit the slopes!
3. Visit a warmer state.
Research “cheap flights to [wherever you want to go]” and you’ll be surprised with what you find. Round trip airfare between New York and California can be as low as $300 during the colder months.
If you have money saved or get some extra cash for the holidays….
4. Travel to Europe.
Experience different cultures by traveling to Europe. If you have friends or relatives who live there, save a few hundred dollars each night by staying with them. If you stay at a hostel or with people you don’t know too well, don’t hesitate to perform a quick background check online before you spend the night.
5. Relax on the beach in the Caribbean.
Drink piña coladas in the sun while your friends are hibernating from the cold. An all-inclusive vacation to Mexico or the Dominican Republic in December or January costs anywhere from $600-$1,000 (or cheaper). That may sound expensive, but the price includes food, drinks, airfare, AND the hotel… it’s actually a steal!
